New Banner

30 06 2008

The repeated image is one of my favorite photomontages I took while in England. A full size print of the montage (which includes a total of seven shots) is two meters long by one meter tall. As for the banner, I like it but there is something about it that is bugging me. Haven’t figured it out yet.

Back to the Future!!

26 06 2008

Those of you who know me and have been to my house have seen my camera collection. The rest of you lot need to stop by, but that is beside the point. I have more than a few twin reflex cameras. Some work, some don’t. And in all honesty, I haven’t shot a single frame with any of them. Ever tried to find specialty film in a town with no real photo-house? Damn near impossible. Well, Rollei has figured out a way to keep the Old and bring in the New, and it will fit in your pocket!

Day 20 in Pictures

26 06 2008

From the ground floor back porch

I’ll have one of each please. Pink AND Blue.

23 06 2008

Incase you didn’t catch the wife’s worldwide email:

Dear Family and Friends,

Dee and I went to the doctor today and they confirmed my suspicions that we are having a boy and a girl! I actually had them reversed in my belly, but oh well. Neither baby participated during the hour long process of measuring and looking for those all important organs, but in the end the appropriate pictures were taken and everything was pronounced good. Both babies were moving all over the place and at one point they started kicking each other. I hope this isn’t a sign of things to come. :) I think the best part of the whole day was when Dr. Hamilton said, “Oh yeah, That is definitely a boy.”

Love to you all,

Heather and Dee

Day 16 – Second Floor Framing

20 06 2008

The second floor was done today (just the floor)! And then the clouds opened up. For 2 hours. The Crosstown (Hwy-17 across the penninsula) flooded. At more than a few times the rain was sideways. :eek3: No more work until Monday. Luckily we’re at the top of the flood plain. We don’t flood, but we can’t go anywhere because it floods all around us.

Day 14 – Framing Begins

18 06 2008

Houston, we have walls.

It looks a bit taller than what I envisioned, but 12 feet is 12 feet. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings, hopefully the second floor.

Day 12 – Plumbing Inspection

16 06 2008

Well the first round of inspections was today and everything passed! Yay! Tomorrow starts the slab pour. You may have noticed that I’m skipping sundays in the numbering process.

Tonight Heather and I went over to Patriot’s Point for a MINI g2g. It was part of the MINI Takes the States drive and a few hundred owners came out to eat a Lowcountry Boil (shrimp, sausage, corn & potatoes), win door prizes (I won a car cover from MINI AG), go on a parade drive through some of the islands, and in general just to hang out. We ducked out early before the drive to head home to catch Top Gear on BBC America and the season premier of Weeds on Showtime. It was a good time even with the razzing from other MINI drivers about getting beat at the autocross by another MINI driver. In a “Just a Cooper” no less. Yeah, I know, Shameful.

Happy Father’s Day!

15 06 2008

Today was a good day. :)

Slept in till 10am. Watched a Euro2008 match (Turkey vs. Czech Republic) then the first match in World Cup 2010 Qualifiers for the US National Team, and played LEGO Indiana Jones on the Wii (completed Raiders of the Ark). And that’s all I did. All day long. Well, except for making Heather breakfast in bed. I did ask her if she realized Mother’s Day had already past and that this was actually Father’s Day.

I’m tired now. Going to bed. :)

Day 11 – Plumbing

14 06 2008

No pictures from today due to my autocross schedule and a Father’s Day cookout. The sewer lines that will be under the “monolithic” slab were laid out and buried along with the main water line. From what I understand it only took a few hours.

The autocross was in Orangeburg at the Prince of Orange Mall. It is ALWAYS hot at any event in O’berg and today was no exception. It was easily 100°+ on the tarmac. I’ve finally come to the realization that I’m no longer competitive in my class. Having missed a year and a half of seat time, all of my friends have greatly surpassed me. Having said that, I was happy with my results. On average my first run is usually the fastest and then I gradually slow down. Except this time. My last run was a full second and a half faster than my first run. Woo Hoo! I guess I’ll have to start over and just better my own times until I get back in the groove.
