It is quite possible Ella and Sam ate a bucket of strawberries today. Fresh off the bush.

Chimney Rock Post Office

Chimney Rock Post Office,

I’ve begun scanning my grandfather’s collection of slides. FYI, there are probably 2000 to go through triage before meeting my DIY slide scanner.

Figured I’d start with 2 of my favorite places… The mountains of North Carolina and Disney World. Not sure of the timeframe on the glass Chimney Rock slides. The WDW slides are from the early 70s.

Click through to the flickr page to see more. I hope to keep it consistantly updated.

What would happen if you crossed Toy Story and Star Wars?

Just a few pics up tonight. A Vader puzzle, Obi-Wan Unleashed and another shot of Yoda in Mickey Mouse ears.

What I did on my Winter Vacation
by Heather

We just got back from 10 fun filled days at Walt Disney World. The kids had a great time and by day 5 they had the routine down. Breakfast bar at the house, then off to a park by 9:30. Squeeze in a ride and then a big breakfast. Squeeze in another ride, benchmark, or pin, then lunch. Maybe a ride and then definitely a nap. Try to find a benchmark or pin while napping. One more ride and then supper. A final ride and then home to bed. Did I mention the benchmarks. Most days we were lucky to get in 4 rides. Our max standing in line time could only be about 20 minutes, so our choices were limited. To be honest, I actually didn’t care about the rides. Dee and I really just enjoyed watching the kids, their expressions, and their interactions with other people. Yes, they are twins, a boy and a girl. They are 15 months old. Yes, it is amazing I can get them to nap at the same time. Yes he has hair and no she doesn’t. They are cute. Thank You!

We ate so much good food and the kids were great. Sam actually has learned to use a spoon and demands to hold the spoon and bowl by himself. He even got a whole bowl of ice cream for dinner one night to avoid a meltdown. Ella’s vocabulary grew by the day. She says dog (there are several in “Haunted Mansion”), cat (Tigers at Animal Kingdom), duck (a seagull in “Pirates of the Caribbean”), and of course ball (which she said every time we rode the monorail). Every ride Sam demanded to sit on the seat by himself while Ella started off in the seat by herself but quickly ended up on someone’s lap. However, we almost got thrown out of “It’s a Small World” because the kids were standing up in the front of the boat. We had a great time on every ride, and we even got to watch the fireworks at Epcot.

We enjoyed visiting with all of our friends Larry, Jessica, and Evan, then the Burnett clan, Julia and Francesca, the Martin’s, and Edie. All and all a good trip. But the most magical moment came on the 9th day when Dee opened a surprise hidden Mickey pin packet. Guess what was inside…. A survey marker pin. Can you believe it???

What can I say? I’ve got skillz.
